Israel-Palestine Mega Fact Check!

CLAIM: Since 1967, Israel has been offering all of the West Bank to the Arabs in exchange for peace and the Arabs have been rejecting the offer.

RATING: Mixed

Israel’s offers almost invariably include the annexation of most of East Jerusalem and parts of the West Bank where they have built (and continue to build) settlements. It also gives little or no recourse to the millions of Palestinian refugees that fled or had been driven out by Jewish militias during the foundation and expansion of the state of Israel.

There have also been peace offers from the Arab side. In 2002 and 2007 for instance, the Arab League offered Israel a peace treaty called the Arab Peace Initiative. Israel has rejected it each time.

Every year since 1997, the UN General Assembly votes on a resolution called The Peaceful settlement of the question of Palestine. This resolution is based on decisions by the international court of law regarding Israel and Palestine, and would establish a two-state solution (based on the pre-1967 borders). This of course means solidifying the creation of a Palestinian state across the West Bank and Gaza. And every year the US, Israel, and a handful of other countries vote against it, while 150 or more countries vote in favour. In other words, the vast majority of countries have been willing to recognize Palestine as a nation for decades. Only the US and Israel are steadfastly against it.

One reply on “Israel-Palestine Mega Fact Check!”

Keep trying to invent history. The palis didn’t exist until the mid 1960s.
One other fun fact – every group, every political organization, and every government that has ever tried to destroy the Jews has been destroyed. Fun fact #2 Israel has never been stronger.
