Israel-Palestine Mega Fact Check!

CLAIM: Gaza, being along the Mediterranean, could have built a seaport with all the money they've received from the UN, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.

RATING: Mostly false

Since the beginning of Israel’s military occupation of the Gaza Strip in 1967, the Gazans were prohibited from building their own seaport.

However, in the Oslo II agreement signed Sept 1995, Israel finally granted permissions to the Palestinians to build one. Work began in the summer of 2000, but Israel bombed the port construction site a few months later in October 2000 following the outbreak of the 2nd intifada. Donor countries then ceased funding the project.

After the 2005 disengagement, Israel promised it would allow renewal of the construction work and that it would not strike it again. However, Israel has stalled the project ever since. Hence there is still no port as of early 2025.

A further obstacle is that Israel has shut down the Gaza seaboard since August 2008, when it issued a Notice to Mariners that strictly prohibited entry into the Gaza maritime area. The area is continuously patrolled by armed Israeli boats to prevent any ships from entering or leaving.

Keep trying to invent history. The palis didn’t exist until the mid 1960s.
One other fun fact – every group, every political organization, and every government that has ever tried to destroy the Jews has been destroyed. Fun fact #2 Israel has never been stronger.
