This also overlooks the simple fact that Palestine—as a province of the Ottoman Empire—was generally a peaceful place for centuries prior to advent of the Zionist project in the late 1800s. Before then, Jews and Arabs and Christians lived in the same communities, shared food, and generally got along together.
