Israel-Palestine Mega Fact Check!

CLAIM: Hamas’s charter says their ultimate goal is to murder all the Jews in the world.

RATING: Mostly false

The original 1988 Hamas charter does talk about obliterating Israel and killing Jews because they stole their Palestinian lands, but does not explicitly call for killing all Jews in the world. One must keep in mind that this charter was written by only three people, none of whom had ever seen the world outside of Gaza, thus lacked a well-rounded perspective. They also seem to have fallen prey to several anti-Semitic myths, such as the Jews starting all the wars in the world, and the Jews being behind the illegal drug trade.

But Hamas rarely ever referred to this charter after it was published—it started distancing itself from this charter within a few years of publishing it. It is unfair to treat this nearly 40 year old charter as if it reflects Hamas’s current goals and beliefs.

Furthermore, the revised 2017 Hamas charter no longer talks about killing Jews and makes it clear that Hamas’s struggle is against the Zionist project, not Jews specifically: “Hamas does not wage a struggle against the Jews because they are Jewish but wages a struggle against the Zionists who occupy Palestine.”

Although the 2017 charter states that Hamas see all of historic Palestine as belonging to Palestinians, it also clearly states that they’re willing to partition the land with Israel along the pre-1967 borders as per the international consensus.

Keep trying to invent history. The palis didn’t exist until the mid 1960s.
One other fun fact – every group, every political organization, and every government that has ever tried to destroy the Jews has been destroyed. Fun fact #2 Israel has never been stronger.
