CLAIM: Hamas hides amongst the civilians by wearing civilian clothes instead of military uniforms.

It is often said that Hamas militants don’t wear uniforms. However, there are clearly pictures of them in parades wearing uniforms. They also appear to have worn uniforms and identifying headbands on October 7th 2023, as in this photo:
When fighting within Gaza, based on available footage, they appear to at least some of the time cover their faces with scarves and other headgear in a militant fashion, which does make them identifiable as militants. But it is still very possible that they do not wear military uniforms some or even most of the time while on “active duty”.
One must also keep in mind that, during warfare, anyone toting an RPG launcher or an AK-47 assault rifle will be clearly identifiable as a militant, whether or not they are wearing a uniform.
Anyone criticizing Hamas militants for wearing civilian clothing must realize that they are not alone in this practice. The IDF's Duvdevan unit wears civilian clothing to disguise themselves among the local Arab populace in order to perform targeted killings and other undercover operations.
