While it’s true that civilian casualties are an inevitable outcome of most warfare, each nation’s army still bears a responsibility for minimizing civilian deaths according to the Geneva Conventions.
Saying that every civilian death is Hamas’s fault could be interpreted as giving Israel a free license to kill an unlimited number of civilians.
Hamas militants, for their part, are guilty of killing hundreds of civilians on October 7th, and should be prosecuted accordingly.
