Israel-Palestine Mega Fact Check!

CLAIM: When the IDF is accused of wrongdoings, it addresses the issue by conducting an internal investigation.

RATING: Mostly false

As we can see from the statistics below, in the vast majority of cases, the IDF either closes the complaint without investigating further, or investigates itself and finds that no wrongdoing has occurred. In the rare cases where the IDF finds one of its members guilty of an offense, it almost never punishes those culpable. In extremely rare cases, an IDF member may actually face jail time.

Here are the statistics for IDF internal investigations for offences against Palestinians in 2017–2021, as compiled by Israeli rights group Yesh Din based on military records:

Out of 1,260 complaints, only 11 (less than 1%) led to indictments, of which an even smaller portion will lead to convictions. According to Israeli rights group Yesh Din, “even in the rare cases in which soldiers are convicted of offenses against Palestinians, the military courts hand down extremely lenient sentences.” Their conclusion: “The figures provided … indicate that the military law enforcement system is used to whitewash crimes committed against Palestinians by Israeli soldiers.”

That is the likely outcome of a complaint filed against the IDF for offenses against Palestinians, including killing them.

One reply on “Israel-Palestine Mega Fact Check!”

Keep trying to invent history. The palis didn’t exist until the mid 1960s.
One other fun fact – every group, every political organization, and every government that has ever tried to destroy the Jews has been destroyed. Fun fact #2 Israel has never been stronger.
