The IDF sometimes publishes a list of militants it has killed, but usually does not.
A November 2024 UN report found that, “As of 25 April 2024, the IDF had announced the names of only 75 targeted Palestinians killed, out of over 34,000 reported fatalities”, despite Israel stating that it had up to that point killed over 13,000 terrorists.
Some of the kill lists provided so far have been questionable.
The IDF declared that it had killed Hamas commander Hussein Fayyad in May 2024. In January 2025, a recent video showed Fayyad was still alive.
Euro-Med Monitor conducted an investigation into the IDF’s list of militants allegedly killed in the August 10 2024 bombing of the Tabeen school complex. It has so far found that three were already dead before the bombing occurred, and that three others were elderly men that were not involved with the Hamas military. Still others were civilians with no known involvement, some of whom even opposed Hamas. At the time of writing, it had not yet investigated all of the alleged militants on the list.
