According to Encyclopedia Britannica, “In the weeks that followed, Israeli forces demolished residential buildings and dismantled military installations and completed their withdrawal on September 12.”
According to a contemporary Christian Science Monitor article about the 2005 disengagement: “What will happen to the existing houses and infrastructure? Israel has decided to destroy houses, schools, and synagogues in Gaza, but leave behind major infrastructure such as electricity, pipes, and roads.” There is no mention of healthcare facilities being left behind.
I could not find any articles describing any new Gazan healthcare facilities built by Israel (which could then have potentially been left to the Gazans). One article suggested that Israel had built the al-Shifa hospital in Gaza. But al-Shifa was actually built by the British during the Mandate period in 1946 and later expanded by Egypt and Israel during their respective occupations. It is also clear that Al-Shifa was not destroyed by Hamas after the 2005 disengagement, as it was operational right up until March 2024 when the IDF placed it under siege and destroyed it.
Based on the above, it seems that Israel (not Gazans) destroyed or dismantled the Gaza settlements’ houses, schools, synagogues, and military bases upon withdrawing, while leaving behind roads and utility infrastructure. I could not find any evidence of Israel building hospitals or other healthcare facilities in Gaza that could have then been destroyed.
